Wanderlust 06:37
(Dustin) I will hide in the shadows Until the break of dawn (Elizabeth) Roll on through the hills ‘cross Ohio To the westward mountaintops of Colorado Chase the Horizon’s eye, chariot of fire Singed to a pallor by the funeral pyre (Dustin) I will steal your every breath Before I’m gone (Elizabeth) Rising up at dawn to burn another day The roads on this map, all tangled and frayed Press those needles in through the cracks The wander lusting heart cannot be taken back -------------------------- (Chorus) --------------------------- (Dustin) Oh I’m rolling down that line And you know I can’t spare much time (Elizabeth) We drowned our fears in the swelling Mississippi Swept green rested hills, the lolls of Pennsylvania Sojourn ‘neath the stars o’er Paradise Valley Sailed Dakota plains mercenary as a galley (Dustin) And I’ve got to get away Before that coming day (Elizabeth) Weathered that desert with the sun at our heels Dirt ‘n’ sand ‘neath a sky turned lifeless teal Howling bad-land winds lull a siren’s peal A wander lusting heart – this, can only feel. ---- (Chorus) ---- (Bridge) Marched ‘midst the gales that skewered the Pacific Tumbled down the cascades ‘neath bramble-shirk the showers City lights burnt the stars from the sky When the low moon came, we sank in high Settled in the west chasing shadows in the night Look back on the east – the sun’s too damn bright A wander lusting heart is pressed to forward roam In the echo of the silence, may my footfall find a home. --------------------------------------------- Chorus x 2 From my earliest days (Both) From my earliest days (Both) From my earliest days (Elizabeth) ---------------------------------------------- Chorus: I’ve done wrong, so much And I know I’m gonna pay This road's got blood from the tracks of my soles From my earliest days.

Through the grass, where we lay Your young eyes looked away To the crow, still he lies on the breeze. Still he lies, still he lies As I bury my burden in this memory Through the grass where we lay, Long ago on this day Stayed the crow You instead, flew away. By the glow of the midnight moon. (repeat).

about

Sojourn Soul, formed by Elizabeth Anne and Dustin Saksek just north of the Seattle city line in April 2016. With a mix of influences spanning hard rock to musical theatre a common ground was found in roots Americana music akin to artists as The Civil Wars, The Lone Bellow, Swell Season, and The Lowest Pair - All thrown to the forefront filling every room played with dancing harmonies, driving barnyard stomp percussion, deep breathing instrumentals, and soulful verse that commands attention.

This is the first of a number of single releases planned building into our first full album. We've sat on these songs and a number of others for a few years, and having been able to start laying tracks with Jack Endino in February 2017 we're now making headway putting something solid together for everyone to enjoy.

There's more coming, and this itself was a long time coming, but despite the time it took we're proud of how it's come out. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
